It clearly ended up being the right move come Tuesday. The Chiefs traveled down to Williamston a day prior to play a practice round on the Wheatfield Valley course. It seemed like all of them had a good day on the same day.”

Emily (Clark) just came back halfway through the season, so she didn’t quite get up to where she was at the end of the season, but she didn’t even have a full season to get going, and she matched her season best for this year. “Four out of the five girls got their personal bests, and the fifth matched her season best. “Super proud, super proud,” McNeil said of his team.

In fact, Maybank and the rest of the Cheboygan team – juniors Ella Kosanke, Emily Clark, and Emerson Eustice, as well as sophomore Lilly Wright – posted a school-record 374.ĭespite falling short of qualifying for states due to a fifth-place finish, it was still a terrific day for the Cheboygan squad, which saw four total players record personal-best scores. “When she struggled (at the Cheboygan Invitational), taking one out of the woods one time that we thought she could handle, no problem, and then she struggled with it, and it kind of really snowballed on her,” said Cheboygan coach Sean McNeil.
